Welcome to our Website

May I take this opportunity at the start of your surf through our website to welcome you via these pages, to the District Grand Priory of Forth Valley. Installed as District grand Prior in March 2014, I can tell you the journey has been a roller-coaster with numerous commitments and events, all of which have been extremely enjoyable.

Through these pages we hope to give both member and casual visitor a flavour of life for the Members of The District of Forth Valley with regular updates of news and events. The summer sporting events are now concluded with wins for Falkirk in the Fishing, Torphichen in the golf (modesty forbids me to say who the winner was) and a win for Douglas in the Bowling. The reports of the events are contained in the NEWS page. The season 2015-16 is just about to begin and we're looking forward to a very busy time.

News of the District Divine Service for 2016 will be announced in January as will the dates for the 2016 sporting competitions. The major event for 2016 is a planned District Grand Priory holiday trip to the island of Malta.

Stemming from a personal interest in the Great Siege, a personal trip very quickly grew arms and legs and now comprises nearly 20 couples all signed up for a holiday in the sun. As I write this welcome, the annual Installation season is almost upon us which will give all of our members a chance to renew their enthusiasm for their Preceptory and the Order. We hope that this enthusiasm translates through these pages and encourages you to visit our website on a regular basis.

Very best wishes to all our surfers

DGP's Objective

Tuesday 31st May 2016

Early in his tenure as District Grand Prior, R.E. Fr. Matthew wished to mark his period in office in improving the Christian fellowship of the order. It is sometimes overlooked the although the order was a military one it is also a christian one. The encourage this fellowship, discussions were held with his officers and as a result an historical trip to Malta was suggested. The first indications were that prehaps a few would like to participate, but once the suggestions was put to the district there were many people who expressed an interest. It was then decided to make the trip for the wives and partners as well, and because of this the numbers began to swell yet again. The District Grand Secretary was tasked in organising the trip.

The whole thing came to fuition on the 24th May when a party of 32 flew to Malta for a week's holiday and historical sightseeing. The trip was very successful and many have already decided to return in the near future.

Annual Divine Service

Sunday 24th April 2016

The Annual Divine Service was hosted by the Torphichen Preceptory and held in the Old Priory of Torphichen, which dates to the 13th Century, and possibly earlier, on Sunday 24th April.

The service was officiated by the Grand Prelate V.E. Fr. Robert Craig and was well attended and proved to be a successful day, Gordon and his team are to be congratulated on an excellent day

The Muster took place within the Premises of the Greyfriars Preceptory as has become the norm, there was representatives from our sister orders.

In fact the day was so poor this year that only one fish was taken from the water.
